"Say Cheese!"...

All of your friends and family have gathered to hear about your latest trip. You pull out the computer to show the pictures from all of the amazing nature shots, great food, and local culture.... "and this is where I almost lost my camera in the water"... "Oh yes, and I loved the name of that pub so I just had to get a shot of it"... "Oh, nobody was supposed to see that one. I should've deleted that...ehem"...

No doubt in those mounds and rolls and memory cards full of pictures there are more than a dozen of those shots where you caught an unexpecting person or two in the backdrop. You know... that woman who's picking her nose, or the kid falling down. I know I've had plenty of unplanned guests in my pictures. This one for instance was the work of a man walking between me and the camera right at the 'snap'. This deer in the headlights is a part of my life forever.

Makes me wonder... When have I been in the background? How many times have I been caught in someone elses moment? Like when I've dropped something on the ground and bent over to pick it up... was I standing behind a man and woman taking their first 'couple' self-shot? Do they laugh every time they look at the strangers bum??? Or when a group of girls are celebrating a friends birthday at one of my favorite restaurants and I happen to be in the background of their group photo with my mouth wide open about to take my next bite. And then I get the customized facebook tags such as 'random butt girl'... or 'guess she was hungry'. Let's face it, nobody is attractive when they're the candid visitor. And I don't mean the kind of candid where you know there's a camera lurking about so you just don't make eye contact (but still manage to look cute)... no, I mean honest to goodness genuine unaware.

Do you have a favorite background person? Don't think you have one?... Go look again :)
