I was listening to the radio this week and heard and advertisement for professional psychics. There was a woman bragging about how their psychics are the best quality, and their abilities are tested for accuracy. Obviously, I was interested to know what the psychic test must look like.
I imagine a reception room full of potential psychics. What an intense experience. This is a point when everyone around you is actually reading your thoughts. Creepy. Suddenly the door opens. Every single one of these candidates are thinking they are going to be called first. Only one is called. Phase one, passed. The candidate is asked to lead the way down a corridor full of closed doors and is asked "go ahead to the conference room". The psychic hopeful follows his instincts to the room with the most commotion, opens the door and... bingo! Phase two, passed. Seats are taken. It's the applicant vs the Board of Directors at this ...um... firm?... sure... Questions are asked. First it's the hairy man on the right who wants to know what he will be having for lunch today. The applicant stares off into the distance and sees the cart filled with the catered meal for the day and responds with, "chicken pasta." Pass. Next, the woman who everyone is surprised to find is still single asks when she will find her next love. The psychic realizes he doesn't have any plans later and responds with "Tonight". Pass. There's only one question left, from the man with his top button done up. He lost his car key and needs to know where to find it. Dang it... um... "pocket?" Phase three, passed. OK, interview is done... He gets up to leave and in his excitement opens the closet door. Phase four, failed.
Back to the waiting room. The door is opened, and one more candidate is called. Phase one, passed.
